I have spent a good part of my career working to make universities run more effectively. My job involves helping Berkeley use technology strategically to strengthen the access and inclusivity of world class education. (See for example, my presentation<\/a> on Berkeley’s dual mission of access and<\/em> excellence…) One of the University’s top priorities is advancing science and knowledge of the world– which today requires advanced infrastructure unlike that needed by typical corporations– specialized computational infrastructure and high speed networking. As CTO, I bring partners, vendors, campus stakeholders and other experts together to ensure we understand the needs of research and can deliver the computing services and capacity Berkeley needs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n I’ve lived with my family in San Francisco Bay Area for a long time.
